Drug Drug Description Betaxolol A cardioselective beta blocking agent commonly used to treat hypertension and elevated intraocular pressure (when administered ophthalmically). Travoprost A prostaglandin analog used in the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure due to open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Dapiprazole Used in the treatment of iatrogenically induced mydriasis produced by adrenergic (phenylephrine) or parasympatholytic (tropicamide) agents used in certain eye examinations. Carbamoylcholine A direct acting miotic agent administered ophthalmically to decrease intraocular pressure after cataract surgery, and to induce miosis during surgery. Dipivefrin A prodrug of epinephrine used in ophthalmic solutions to reduce intraocular pressure in chronic open-angle glaucoma. Latanoprost An isopropyl ester prodrug used to treat increased intraocular pressure. Methazolamide A carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used to treat open angle glaucoma and acute angle closure glaucoma. Acetazolamide A carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used to treat edema from heart failure or medications, certain types of epilepsy, and glaucoma. Dorzolamide A carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used to treat high intraocular pressure in ocular hypertension and open angle glaucoma. Bimatoprost A prostaglandin analog used to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes and intraocular pressure in open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Demecarium For the topical treatment of chronic open-angle glaucoma. Apraclonidine An alpha adrenergic agonist used to treat raised intraocular pressure. Echothiophate An acetylcholinesterase inhibitor used in ophthalmic preparations to increase the drainage of intraocular fluid; most commonly used for the treatment of glaucoma. Guanethidine An antihypertensive agent used in the management of moderate and severe hypertension, either alone or as an adjunct, and for the management of renal hypertension. Brinzolamide A carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. Levobunolol A beta-adrenergic antagonist used for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. Metipranolol A beta-adrenergic antagonist used for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. Acetylcholine A parasympathomimetic neurotransmitter used to induce miosis of the iris in seconds after delivery of the lens in cataract surgery, in penetrating keratoplasty, iridectomy and other anterior segment surgery where rapid miosis may be required. Unoprostone A prostaglandin analogue used to lower intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who are clinically unresponsive to other ocular antihypertensive agents. Tafluprost An ophthalmic prostaglandin analog used to lower intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. Befunolol Used in the management of open angle glaucoma. PMID: 12480285. Aceclidine Aceclidine has been marketed in Europe but has not been used clinically in the United States. It is used in the treatment of open-angle glaucoma and is a parasympathomimetic agent. Paraoxon Not Annotated Timolol A non-selective beta adrenergic blocker used in the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in ocular hypertension or open angle glaucoma. Brimonidine An alpha-2 adrenergic agonist used to treat glaucoma and ocular hypertension, as well as facial erythema in rosacea. Carteolol A beta adrenergic antagonist used to treat arrhythmia, angina, hypertension, and glaucoma. Clonidine An alpha-2 adrenergic agonist used to treat hypertension and severe cancer pain, among other conditions, and to treat withdrawal symptoms from various substances. It is also used to aid in the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma and to prevent migraines. Epinephrine A hormone and neurotransmitter used to treat allergic reactions, to restore cardiac rhythm, and to control mucosal congestion, glaucoma, and asthma. Physostigmine A cholinesterase inhibitor used to treat glaucoma and anticholinergic toxicity. Pilocarpine A muscarinic agonist used to treat dry mouth and various ophthalmic conditions, such as presbyopia, increased intraocular pressure, and angle-closure glaucoma. Diclofenamide A carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used for the management of open-angle and secondary glaucoma, as well as acute angle-closure glaucoma in delayed pre-operative setting requiring a reduction in intraocular pressure. Neostigmine A cholinesterase inhibitor used in the symptomatic treatment of myasthenia gravis by improving muscle tone. Netarsudil A rho kinase inhibitor used to reduce intraocular pressure in patients with open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Latanoprostene bunod A prostaglandin analog used to reduce ocular hypertension or treat open-angle glaucoma. Ripasudil A rho kinase inhibitor indicated to treat ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma. - Drugs & Drug Targets
